Origin: Mediterranean region. Medium-size tree, extremely resistant to very high and low temperatures and droughts. Has a wide, dense, round crown.
The evergreen leaves are dark in shade. Its fruit is the acorn.
The growth of the holm can be controlled through pruning, which it tolerates very well. It is the type of plant which can be planted very close to others, and grows to be tall and robust.
It grows in all sorts of soils, except for particularly boggy, sandy or saline ones. It prefers sunny, hot and dry climates.
It is a noble tree which offers a pleasant shade.
