Characteristics

Native to the Western Mediterranean region, those evergreen tree's leaves are dark green above and paler below. It has thick, rough bark, and produces acorn fruit.

It thrives in loamy, loose, permeable soils. It needs intense sunshine and is very heat tolerant, although it does not flourish in overly dry climates.
